I do not recommend as a support engineer. You better to join as a developer even in a small company rather than joining in support engineer role because, you will not get the value much inside and outside in my opinion. Oncall pressure is too much.

Cross training that helps for faster growth and more experience.

Kontras

Sometimes you gotta hurry and find equipment or pit equipment before others snag them and leave you with the “bad” ones. That take forever to get repaired.

You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations from management, this company isn't for you.
