Ronja started her career with Menzies as an intern just over a year ago before accepting a permanent position. “Since a young age, I have always had a genuine interest in the aviation industry,” Ronja said. “With Menzies Aviation being such a well-known company with a reputation for quality service, safety and reliability, I was excited about the opportunity of completing an internship here.” Since joining she hasn’t looked back. “Working at Menzies means working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where every day is a chance to learn,” she explains. “I especially enjoy working with the risk team because I am always challenged to tackle any uncertainties that require my creativity and problem-solving skills.” Ronja believes that it’s the people at Menzies that help to create such a diverse and collaborative culture. “The company is very diverse and working together as a team to achieve common goals is highly valued,” she explains. “Ever since joining Menzies, I have been welcomed with open arms. 👋 Say hello to Davide D'Amico, Station Manager at Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP). Having joined Menzies in January of last year, Davide now oversees our operations at MXP, the second largest airport in Italy. Leading a team that handles almost 100 flights a day during the summer months, Davide is responsible for upholding the highest safety standards and the efficient delivery of a broad range of services. Asked about what he enjoys most about life at Menzies, Davide points to the company’s safety culture: “One of the things that I immediately appreciated about working at Menzies is that safety is the company’s top priority. Their well-coordinated response not only saved the life of their colleague but highlighted their ability to respond to a crisis as a team. The IATA CBTA is an approach used in dangerous goods training, to clearly establish the training needs for specific job functions, while ensuring that employees acquire the necessary knowledge and skills. 👋 Say hello to Joshua Bäckström, Assistant Financial Analyst based at our offices in Edinburgh. Josh joined Menzies Aviation as an intern one year ago before accepting a permanent position. Responsible for cashflow forecasting, Josh deals with a variety of financial enquiries, creating forecasts for the business and ensuring our online systems are kept updated. 💰 He was motivated to join Menzies thanks to an interest in aviation. “Having completed an economics degree I thought what better way to combine my interest in finance and aviation in a job that covers both,” explains Josh. “The internship was the perfect way of figuring out if aviation was the sector for me. I can happily say that I found my niche!” Josh has been particularly impressed by the “supportive and inclusive” culture at Menzies. “I am never afraid to reach out for help or ask for support in pursuing something which is key for my professional growth.” As part of his professional development at Menzies, Josh is set to gain his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification over the coming years. 👨🎓 Best of luck for your career at Menzies, Josh! 🎉 We’re thrilled to announce that our teams at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) have successfully commenced passenger handling services. This follows the news that our ground handling licence at NBO was extended last year to include passenger handling, completing the full suite of ground services that we provide at the airport. The inaugural flight saw our teams looking after passengers boarding a Qatar Airways flight to Hamad International Airport (DOH) on Monday 22 April. The 36th International Air Transport Association (IATA) Ground Handling Conference (IGHC) will take place in Reykjavík, Iceland from 7 – 9 May, bringing together industry leaders to discuss the future of industry standards, policies, and procedures. 🤝 Three of our senior leaders are due to speak at the conference, outlining how Menzies is ‘partnering for a better planet’ – the theme of this year’s event. ✈️Our Group CEO, Philipp Joeinig, will join a panel of industry leaders to discuss how ground handling initiatives can drive improvements in the complex ground operations environment. Having completed a degree in Sustainable Development from the University of Edinburgh, Rachel joined Menzies as a Sustainability Intern in July 2023. Thanks to her great work on our sustainability initiatives, Rachel was offered a permanent position earlier this year. Rachel helps to develop and implement our ‘All In’ sustainability strategy, designed to drive positive change and help Menzies deliver on our ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) priorities. 💚 Playing an instrumental role in crafting important company policies has been one of Rachel’s highlights since arriving at Menzies. “Being given the opportunity to write our latest Environmental Policy as an intern was very exciting, and a big responsibility – I think it shows that Menzies really wants their people to succeed,” Rachel reflects. Rachel has been particularly struck by the culture at Menzies, which she says “all comes down to our tagline: People. Passion.
