Great healthcare benefits, and affordable. Many opportunities to change departments to try something new. Met some very nice, hard working, good people.

Management is completely out of touch, mostly due to every one of them being implants from Bentonville school instead of local staff being promoted. Some low level management were the only locals, and it took years and years of service for them to even get that. High turn over in upper management. No chance of promotion without many years of service, and most long-time employees I knew took demotions to get out of management after they got in. Management was so awful, no one who had been there for a while wanted to touch it. Upper level management was utterly useless, lower level took blame for everything. Upper management would walk around the store in groups, looking for safety hazards and things to hassle lower level management about. No pitching in with work (except for photo ops, they liked taking pictures of each other working to post on the monthly message board. They left messes behind every time for employees to clean up, making it a stressful experience), completely out of touch and clueless about what was going in in the departments they were in charge of. The term 'corporate clown car' seems to be the best way to describe their presence. There is an emphasis on getting as much work done as possible, with no concern for the quality of work done or even for merely doing the task correctly. Customer service was discouraged by heavy workloads and threats for being found in another department or stopping current tasks while helping a customer. Workers are also disciplined for taking overtime when workloads were too heavy to take breaks or go home on time, especially common around holidays. Very stressful, every worker always felt behind all day, every day. New management came in and decided that no one, not even long time employees who had schedule arrangements for years, could work specific schedules and hours, even those who needed to accommodate babysitting and their family. Management told all workers they were to work the exact schedule the computer automatically generated, or leave. Many chose to leave. Gossip was allowed to run rampant, and was taken as word if enough people repeated it. Management took no interest into investigating matters beyond listening to the gossip and glancing over situations. The work environment became hostile to anyone not accepted into cliques, and the gangs would work together to sabotage coworker's work in order to push out people they didn't like. Pay was poor, even for skilled services. Raises were by the dime every year.

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Kontras

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
