Pros
Lots of opportunities to grow, learn, and many other stores to transfer to. Walmart is one of the few companies that allow people without college degrees to become an APM. I'm 21 and in college and I can get AP management experience which is great so when I graduate I can go to another company.
Kontras
AP is extremely micromanaged and the upper management have no AP experience yet they try to run an AP program. Successful AP cannot be micromanaged. APMs are the lowest paid salaried managers yet our expectations are much higher. More and more work is constantly piled onto us; I cannot remember the last time I worked less than 60 hours in a week. They expect us to run the store and be accountable for everything like the store manager yet we make $40,000+ less than a store manager.
