Pros
Wal-Mart awarded me extra pay for my previous work experience, and I made around $10 an hour, which is not bad, especially in Georgia when the minimum wage was $5.15 an hour at the time. In an eight-hour shift you're given a one-hour unpaid lunch break and two 15-minute paid breaks, so you get a break every two hours. I liked the work environment since I didn't have to be bothered by cigarette smoke or smelling like food after work.

I worked the overnight shift which got pretty boring after a while, especially when I was assigned to be a door greeter. Even cashiers sometimes have to work as door greeters. Also, part-timers don't get as many benefits as full-timers, and if you want health insurance you have to sign up for it during a certain window of time or you won't be able to get it until the next year.
