Pros
The company provides accomodation (shared with another employee), meals from the cafeteria, and transportation to & from the hotel. I might be biased, but the resort is the most beautiful & most exclusive LOOKING on the JBR. You work with a diverse group of people - guests & co-workers from all over the world.. you're bound to grow as a person. It's great that the hotel is open to cross training their employees, so if you're interested in working in another department to see how things are, you can do that for a few weeks and possibly transfer too.

Guests usually complain about construction noise or their room being too far from the lobby. (Things that are out of our control) Management is very unorganized, way too focused on numbers and not up to date with things, it's a mess. Many people quit their jobs because of that. I also never understood the training method of this hotel - they just expect you to read these short training courses online, take a quiz and get your 'certificate' printed. That is not how you train people! It's also a waste of time. You will work overtime and it won't be compensated since they do not convert OT hours to extra days off or extra income... It's similar to slave work. Speaking of those two, you work 6 days a week unless you are upper management you'll get 2 days off instead of 1. Although, you get the pros of free accomodation, etc... the salary is way too low to live a quality life in Dubai hence making it difficult to save money. It is even less for interns (half of full time employees) who do the exact same work we full time employees did. The accomodation place also has many rules (Yes, I understand it is Dubai) - For example, if you have family members or friends that want to visit you, you need to fill out forms which takes time to get approved, your roommate needs to sign it too etc.. It's like being a teenager all over again. It's awesome to have this company on your resume, but many employees that have worked in other hotels say that this resort is by far the worst - in terms of management. The setting is similar to being in highschool, gossip here & there. "Wow" stories are also done amongst employees for the guests, but it feels so fake when it's about competition between different departments. You feel as if you only do it because your managers push you to do it, and not in an encouraging way. Again, everything is about the numbers.
