Pros

It is a very stable company. Opportunities do exist for promotion, tho the criteria for achieving it is often mysterious. There is ongoing effort made to keep up morale, the creature comforts are very nice. There is ongoing training, and I feel that the employees do have a voice in the day to day realities of the job, at least in part. Training is ongoing, although much of it has no pertinence to daily use. It is a very polite and friendly environment, at peer level. For the most part it is a professional positive environment, and peers are extremely helpful and supportive.

Kontras

The location where I work is a call center, and does therefore maintain the worst of that environment. There is a lot of effort made to make employees feel valued, but it's window dressing for the most part - this is a better situation than other insurance companies I have worked for in my 30+ professional career, it's just not that much different in the nuts and bolts day to day experience.

Kontras

Started my career at Liberty Mutual as a Workers' Compensation intern. In the beginning, everything was going well. The workload was demanding, but I genuinely enjoyed the job and the work I was doing. One year later, I got promoted to claim adjuster. Things changed after my manager was seriously injured in a car accident. The department director took over managing our team, and the work environment became completely different. She was extremely rude and practiced excessive micromanagement. She expected me not to take any PTO if my work wasn't completely finished, even when I needed time off because my grandmother had suddenly passed away. The constant pressure and lack of empathy took a serious toll on my mental health. I developed depression during that time and eventually had to seek help from a psychologist. In the end, I decided to leave Liberty Mutual. It was one of the best decisions I made for my well-being, and I would not consider returning to the company.
