Pros

Schedule. Work Life Balance. Great benefits and corporate culture.

Kontras

Insurance is a very competitive market. Liberty Mutual truly is a great insurance company and provides a better than average experience for the customer. Unfortunately it is hard to sell value and service in an industry to markets on getting the least expensive option. Even Liberty focus much of its advertising on saving money. The reality is Liberty usually cost a little more, but it is worth it. When I was offered the position I was told expect 3-5 years in order to establish yourself in the industry. Unfortunately, after 1 year upper management began “accountability” conversations. Although I am new to insurance, I am not new to sales. The company treating me as an under-performer while I am still in “Rookie” status, and while I have been growing my business as an “outside sales” agent during Covid is disappointing. I left a well paid position, expecting to earn double my earnings in year 1. Despite this, my feeling was Liberty being more frustrated and less understanding than I was.

Kontras

Started my career at Liberty Mutual as a Workers' Compensation intern. In the beginning, everything was going well. The workload was demanding, but I genuinely enjoyed the job and the work I was doing. One year later, I got promoted to claim adjuster. Things changed after my manager was seriously injured in a car accident. The department director took over managing our team, and the work environment became completely different. She was extremely rude and practiced excessive micromanagement. She expected me not to take any PTO if my work wasn't completely finished, even when I needed time off because my grandmother had suddenly passed away. The constant pressure and lack of empathy took a serious toll on my mental health. I developed depression during that time and eventually had to seek help from a psychologist. In the end, I decided to leave Liberty Mutual. It was one of the best decisions I made for my well-being, and I would not consider returning to the company.
