Very political. You rise according to how well you "play" those with the power to promote. - Mitarbeiter (anonym) bei Liberty Mutual Insurance: Mitarbeiterbewertung

Pros

The company offer great benefits and pay for performance. So if you are a person committed to good product and performance, you will receive ample bonus at year end.

Kontras

People in the Commercial Market group are more often promoted based upon how well they are liked by members of the management team, or a single member, versus how well they can do the job. If an Producer (someone who sells new business), is successful, all rules go out the window and support staff works according to their demands. People who perform poorly are NEVER released from employment, they just play along enduring lower performance ratings with 3% raises and no bonus, and those around them have no choice but to endure the sub-par work product - or do the work themselves. The management encourages employees to report "inappropriate behavior", but it goes unaddressed unless a customer experiences it and bumps it up. Liberty Mutual executive leadership (CEO) is excellent but their mid-level management - depending upon the region you work in - gets away with alot of mismanagement.

Kontras

Started my career at Liberty Mutual as a Workers' Compensation intern. In the beginning, everything was going well. The workload was demanding, but I genuinely enjoyed the job and the work I was doing. One year later, I got promoted to claim adjuster. Things changed after my manager was seriously injured in a car accident. The department director took over managing our team, and the work environment became completely different. She was extremely rude and practiced excessive micromanagement. She expected me not to take any PTO if my work wasn't completely finished, even when I needed time off because my grandmother had suddenly passed away. The constant pressure and lack of empathy took a serious toll on my mental health. I developed depression during that time and eventually had to seek help from a psychologist. In the end, I decided to leave Liberty Mutual. It was one of the best decisions I made for my well-being, and I would not consider returning to the company.
