Pros
Commission - it's only 1% but you'll build it up quickly if you've got your eye on the ball at all times. Just always be ready to greet/help shoppers, and you'll get a lot of easy sales. Staff discount is 30%, higher than most places would give their employees. Twice a year we got a 50% discount as well. Just be careful spending it as the limit you're given is on the amount of discounts used, not on the value of goods bought.

This is the sort of place where you're expected to sell constantly and hit targets. Depending on how stressed the manager is, a slow day might be blamed on The upper management (based in Europe) is essentially useless: mostly the type of bosses who are never around to help solve problems or propose solutions, but never miss a chance to criticise you or your store (which your store manager will probably blame you for). They let stores suffer doubly by not responding to basic requests for repairs or replacements, so you will have to face angry customers demanding to know why you have no black sneakers a week before school starts, or why the changing rooms are all closed - as well as management when your store's sales inevitably fall because of this incompetence.
