Pros
Great peers, interesting opportunities if you can find them, solid benefits, 4pm Fridays, good employee resource groups
Kontras
Senior leadership is disconnected from account teams--employees are nothing but numbers to the C-suite. There is no clear vision for the company as a whole. Promotions and merit increases are practically nonexistent. Favoritism plays a major role in who gets assigned what projects (read: the same people are put on the "cool," high-profile projects, which leaves no learning opportunities for junior folks.) Review season is notoriously complicated and stressful--the review system was changed at least 3 times in the past 5 years--and managers never seem to know what's going on with their direct reports' career trajectory. Bottom line: Edelman created and upholds a stressful, unbalanced environment: rewarding leaders who have exhibited bad behavior, stringing along talent with false promises of an upward career trajectory, and encouraging work/life balance while silently expecting employees to work long hours.
