Pros
- brand recognition: this is one of the largest French MNC, a reference in its industry --> that's definitely a brand on your resume, which gives credibility - some of the world top power gen engineers in the field of power generation, especially if you are working - you can easily get some hands on assignments with responsibility early on fr a young grad, or experience on a construction site if you ask for it - lots of training opportunities with the Alstom University
Kontras
- politics: this could be on your side if you know the right people, but unless you do, you will do the same thing for the next 15 years. Many of my extremely talented colleagues had to leave the company to do something that fitted their skills and potential better, as well as for a fairer remuneration. - HR department is solely behaving as a cost center, little to no care is given to employees career path, not open to horizontal mobility - no creativity involved: most of the (commercial and project management) work is delimited and no creativity is expected/required from you - not fun if you're not a technical guy (see previous point)
