DevOps / Platform Engineer – Distributed Cloud & Hybrid Edge

Budapest

Your mission

Join a small team of engineers supporting 40–45 developers across a complex hybrid environment.
We’re looking for a hands-on Platform Engineer who enjoys building reliable platforms, automating at scale, and making life easier for developers. In this role, you’ll help shape the internal platform that supports application delivery across distributed data centers and cloud environments.
You’ll work in a highly regulated environment with a hybrid infrastructure spanning 15+ geographically distributed bare-metal data centers and a growing Microsoft Azure footprint. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to solve real-world platform engineering challenges where reliability, automation, security, and developer enablement all matter.

Your profile

Duties and responsibilities

As part of the Platform Engineering team, you’ll build, automate, standardize, and operate the internal platform used by our development teams. You’ll help turn the complexity of hybrid infrastructure, Kubernetes, networking, security, and deployments into reliable, reusable platform capabilities.
You’ll work closely with developers and senior engineers to improve delivery speed, reliability, and consistency—without expecting every team to become infrastructure experts. This role combines DevOps engineering, automation, platform operations, and developer enablement.
  • Build and improve platform capabilities that help development teams deliver applications more reliably across cloud and data center environments.
  • Create automation and reusable patterns using Terraform, Helm, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based workflows
  • Help operate and improve Kubernetes-based environments with a focus on standards, observability, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management.
  • Contribute to self-service tooling, templates, and documentation that reduce developer friction and improve delivery speed.
  • Partner closely with developers and senior engineers to turn delivery bottlenecks into practical platform improvements.
Required Qualifications, Experience & Competencies
Professional Experience & Skills
  • 3–5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Infrastructure, Cloud, or Platform Engineering roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containers in production or near-production environments.
  • Good working knowledge of Terraform, Helm, CI/CD pipelines, and scripting or automation.
  • Experience working across hybrid environments, with exposure to at least one major cloud provider; Microsoft Azure is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, observability, and security-by-design principles.
  • A practical, operations-focused mindset with the ability to troubleshoot distributed systems and improve reliability through automation.
  • Strong collaboration skills and clear communication in English with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
  • Experience in regulated industries such as telecommunications, financial services, energy, or government.
  • Exposure to low-latency or geographically distributed workloads.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Rancher, OpenShift, AKS, Azure Arc, Argo CD, Flux, Istio, or Cilium.
  • Experience building internal developer tools, reusable service templates, or platform APIs.
  • Understanding of policy-as-code, compliance automation, cost controls, or platform governance.
