I went through a round of interviews with some really great developers on their team. They provided great feedback and the coding-style quiz was fairly straightforward. I was informed a few days later that they went with someone else, but they informed me I was the runner-up and highly encouraged me to keep in contact and try again when the next role became available, as they felt I was perfectly qualified for the role (their words). I was really excited, and spent the next few months checking literally every email I got from their job posting notifications (signed up for the daily ones)—all the while keeping in touch with my recruiter. Finally, another opened up and I sent my updated application and resume in (I spent those few months increasing my skills and working on improving my knowledge on VSPs stack). I reached out to my recruiter and received a call the following week about getting in touch with a hiring manager. I missed the call, but called back within the hour. After not getting a call back for a few days I emailed the recruiter in case they might have missed it. My girlfriend is a recruiter, so I know how hectic it can be. Well, they never responded and have since not gotten back to me 8 days later. Today, my status says “application closed.” It hurts quite a bit, since I felt like this would be such a great fit for me, especially so considering the feedback I got in my first round of interviews. But now, being ignored even after specifically telling me to keep in close contact, I’m not sure how I feel anymore. I really wish I could have at least received feedback as to why this round didn’t work out. All the best to the team, though, I really felt their development team was as highly collaborative as I am and it would have been great to work alongside them.
