I applied online at the Progressive website. I received an email a few days later to complete an online test. After finishing the test I received an email a few days later to complete a video interview. The video interview was so-so. You're asked around 8 questions, some of which are in the STAR format. You're given one opportunity to re-record your response if you mess up the first time, and only 3 minutes to answer the question being asked. The video interview lacked context to some of the questions though. One question asks you to talk about your work history, but doesn't say for what period of time, so if you have an extensive resume, getting all that information in, in a 3 minute time frame can be quite daunting. I received an email about a week later asking to setup a face-to-face interview. The face-to-face interview is where I had my issue. I met with two individuals, a male and female. The man was very nice and did the best he could to make the situation as comfortable as possible. The lady on the other hand, as soon as I opened my mouth, you could tell she wasn't happy to be there and made the interview very awkward. Maybe it was because I was gay, or maybe she was having a bad day, but her attitude was not friendly what-so-ever, so it made for a very lackluster experience. The interview consisted of 5-6 STAR based questions. You would expect both people to be writing down your responses, and the man was practically writing down everything I said, but when I would go to make eye contact with the lady she wasn't writing down anything, and would just give a blank stare when I would make eye contact with her. All in all, I didn't receive an offer, but in retrospect, I would never want to work in that office because the lady that interviewed me just had a horrible demeanor, and sour-puss attitude. Progressive may preach they have a diverse and inclusive atmosphere, but it certainly didn't feel like that during the interview process. If you're looking for a nice paying job, then I would say go for it. But don't get sold on the idea that they promote an inclusive atmosphere because if the attitude I got during the interview told me anything, it's that it's half-and-half.
