      Vorstellungsgespräch

Applied online, spoke to the HR person, phone conversation with the software manager and then a face to face with three software managers and one principle engineer. Never understood when companies talk to you, they want the best of the best of the best. You must know every single technology on the planet. Yet all they need is a coder to do the most mundane and boring of work. That's exactly how this interview went. They just need a c# code monkey. For those not in the know. OpenText in Pasadena used to be Guidance Software. They were acquired by OpenText. Came to their offices in Pasadena and it was like a ghost town. An office that can hold say 200+ people, had about 6 people there. Granted it was Thanks Giving week. But still, that little people? It's well known around town that there's been a huge exodus at this office (all C level execs have quit). It looks like everyone has quit and only the dead wood is left. During our conversation, it was clear they were only looking for a coder. They gave me a brief white board technical test (parse an array based on a specific criteria). It wasn't rocket science, but they wanted me to explain the code line by line, word by word. I got fed up of it all in the end and told them I wasn't interested in continuing their silly technical test. Look at the bigger picture people, not how a loop will do this and not that. The principle engineer asked me a few questions and if anything, it really showed his lack of technical skills. None the less I wasn't interested in this job (too junior for me) and they knew this. The two roles they were hiring for were due to people leaving. All I can say is if you do talk to this company. Do bare in mind many people have left this please in droves due to the takeover. It will only be a matter of time before the Pasadena office is closed down completely.

4 rounds- 3 technical and 1 managerial. Rounds were pretty comfortable. I was asked based on my experience and design choices. There was a system design question and a coding question as well. A little bit of low level design question were also involved.

I was interviewed by 2 Enterprise Architects but the job was not something I got from HR. I was not prepared at all, but due to my 20 years practical experience, there is no problem for me.

      Vorstellungsgespräch

This was a very funny interview. The interview questions were very simple but still the interviewer was looking for answers in certain fashion. And after getting to know about the break from work I took and the "deligency" in taking that break, he took it a little personal I think. Anyways it was going to be a practice interview so I am not bothered but it could have been interesting but it was not. I had some trouble sharing my ide's screen but that got sorted out. Man what a dissapointing interview. I won't even call it a practice interview anymore. Tip: Don't share personal stuff with anyone.
