I went through four rounds — screening, director interview, in-person case study, and final chat with the CXO. After positive feedback on my case study, I was told to apply for my post-grad work permit and that a formal offer would follow once I was eligible to work.
I expedited my work permit application and became eligible to work — but once I informed them, the process stalled, and I was later told they could no longer extend the offer.
As an immigrant, this put me at a serious disadvantage with immigration timelines. Given their value proposition of leading with empathy and being honest plastered all over their career page, they could have done better.
Advice:
If you’re on a work/study permit, do not take ANY verbal assurances at face value. Wait for a signed offer before making any decisions, no matter how positive the feedback seems.
A disappointing and avoidable experience from what seemed like a great team.

A very frustrating experience that led to me feeling as if I'd been led on.
I applied online and received an email asking me for a phone screen and to provide 5 dates/times over the next 2 weeks. I emailed back within 5 minutes providing dates/times from the next day to the next week. After not hearing back for 3 business days, and when several of the dates/times I provided had passed, I sent a follow up email to confirm if we could book the call. I didn't receive a response, but I did get a call out of the blue the week after from the TA. She asked a few generic questions to confirm I had experience with property insurance (although she clearly had no background in it, and didn't seem to understand the questions she was asking). At the end of the call, she confirmed I would be moving on to an interview and to let them know if I reached an offer stage with any other company so they could speed up the process on their end. She made it seem as if they were really interested in me for the role.
I did reach an offer stage with another company a week later, and emailed the TA to advise them, telling her I was really interested in the Definity job and to let me know if we could schedule the interview. I didn't hear back, except to get a generic declination email a week later. I responded to ask (very politely) what happened, and got no response.
A very frustrating experience, between the recruiter with no knowledge of the role she was recruiting for, the extended time period (over a month!), the refusal to book a time for the screen and instead the random call, and then being ghosted after the promised interview. I expected more from Definity.
