Sharing is caring 🗣️ Speakers of German, French, Norwegian and others enjoyed honing their language skills and sampling foreign cuisines in a recent Language Exchange, organised by our team in Wroclaw. Native or advanced speakers volunteered their language skills to help their colleagues to practice in a fun, relaxed setting.
Teams who celebrate together, thrive together! Smith+Nephew Kuala Lumpur have been sharing joy and creating memories, bringing the team together to celebrate Hari Raya. With games and a delicious feast, the event was all about culture and connection.
We’ve kicked off our Healthy, Mind, Body and Spirit initiative with our International Globetrot event, a step challenge involving over 1,300 employees. In three weeks, our keen steppers covered 120,000 miles, about equivalent to walking the Great Wall of China nine times! They took on climbing, dog walks, cross country skiing and other activities all in the spirit of wellbeing. Alongside the challenge, we were pleased to host Jennifer Pharr Davis, long-distance hiker and adventurer, for an inspiring talk about trekking and mental wellness.
Here’s how our teams have donated their 8 hours of paid volunteering leave this week: 🏠At Lazarus House, an emergency assistance shelter for those facing poverty in Lawrence, US, a team from our Andover office helped stock and distribute food parcels to over 1,800 families in need. 🌳Our team in Wroclaw, Poland got digging at a tree planting event with the One More Tree Foundation. As part of this charity partnership, we’ll be donating seedlings and lending a hand on the ground to support reforestation action. 👷 In North Memphis, several team members donned their hard hats and got to work helping to build four houses with Habitat For Humanity, a charity that constructs affordable homes to tackle housing poverty.
When the future is full of opportunity, having someone to talk to about options can be helpful! Continuing our collaboration with local universities, Wroclaw University of Economics and Business, University of Wroclaw and Uniwersytet WSB Merito Wrocław, a number of our team in Wroclaw are acting as mentors for eight local students. We were pleased to welcome mentees to our Wroclaw offices recently as they joined training sessions, a networking event with our team and received CV support from our recruiters. We’re looking forward to seeing these talented students move ahead with their careers!
Lending a hand on Hari Raya 🎊 The festival of Hari Raya signifies the end of Ramadan and, alongside cheer and merriment, it’s considered a time for giving back and making a difference. To mark the occasion, over 100 team members from Penang, Malaysia came together to organise donations of groceries, home appliances and goodie bags for Rumah Amal, a local care center for adults and children with special needs.

Bowlin’ on the River in support of Junior Achievement (JA) Memphis 🎳 30 of our Memphis team, hit the lanes to support JA’s most recent Bowl-A-Thon. Hosted at a local bowling alley, the event raises funds for education programs that serve the city’s elementary, middle and high schools. We’ve been working with JA Memphis since 2003, supporting initiatives such as interactive exhibits and career speaker events that give young people the tools they needs to plan for their futures.
Check out our new office in Hamburg! Our Germany team has a new home in the Docklands of Hamburg. With views of the River Elbe that inspire a sense of wellbeing and connection with the city, as well as lots of open office space to support our collaborative culture, our new workspace is a hive of teamwork and togetherness.
Working together to support local communities. Our team in Tokyo have been putting their volunteering hours to good use as part in the Shiba Area Clean Campaign: A town with zero street-smoking. The team joined residents, companies and government organisations to collect litter and help make the Minato Ward in Tokyo a safer and cleaner place for everyone.
