Steven Griffin, DO, specializes in general pediatrics and has been the sole pediatrician at Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, MT for about two years. He was recently promoted to medical director for primary care and specialty care for outpatients. In a part of Montana where families aren’t used to many pediatric care options, Dr. Griffin is raising the bar by implementing significant and much-needed changes. “It shouldn’t matter if you go to a facility in Denver, Chicago, or Miles City,” said Dr. Griffin. “You should receive the same standard of care anywhere you go, and that’s my goal for youth in this area.” With improved healthcare, screenings, and preventative appointments, they’ve identified some significant conditions. Genetic disorders, gastrointestinal issues, and even detecting glaucoma and helping to save a child’s eyesight, to name a few. With early diagnosis he’s been able to connect patients with the right people for treatment.
Tammer Attallah credits a speech impediment that eventually pushed him to become a leader at Intermountain Health. “As a child, I had this horrible stutter,” the executive clinical director for Intermountain’s Behavioral Health department said. “I wouldn’t speak very often and instead became a really good listener. That was one of the best gifts I ever had.” It’s a gift Tammer has used for more than two decades treating mental health patients and now to lead caregiver colleagues across the enterprise - articulating clinical excellence. Tammer is a fan of Intermountain's long legacy of delivering high-quality, evidence-based care and is grateful that we continue to shorten that 17-year gap between research and clinical practice. This is where he thinks our clinical excellence stands out. In the always changing recipe of healthcare, Tammer nods to Intermountain in having all the key ingredients to be a national and international leader in developing evidence-based practices of care in a timely manner. He said our senior leaders are very interested in prioritizing mental wellness. Along with his partner in behavioral health at the enterprise level, Mason Turner, MD, Tammer is guiding Intermountain on how to support the mental health needs of patients and its caregivers.

Residents living in Utah’s Wasatch Back – Park City, Heber City, and surrounding areas – now have access to world-class heart rehabilitation services close to home thanks to a new cardiovascular rehab center at Intermountain Park City Hospital. The new cardiac rehabilitation clinic at the hospital will provide patients living in the area easy access to critical services closer to their homes. This will be particularly impactful as Summit/Wasatch County patients navigate their path to recovery following a cardiac event, such as a heart transplant, stent placement, or heart attack. “Our staff’s expertise, along with the clinic’s state-of-the-art technology, will assist patients in regaining their active lifestyle. Cardiac Rehab offers a completely monitored and safe environment during exercise that allows for patients to gain strength, confidence, and knowledge of their full potential as part of their recovery journey,” said Breno Rodrigues, PT, DPT, manager of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation for Intermountain Health.
We are proud to be the recipient of a $1.9 million seed grant from the Opportunity Now Colorado grant program, which aims to transform Colorado's growing workforce with new job opportunities. We will use the grant to launch Pathfinders: an AI-supported fully connected talent pipeline to engage, hire, and provide upfront tuition coverage for entry-level frontline healthcare job seekers. Dr. Carrie Jaworski has been selected president elect of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) for a three-year term on the organization's executive team. She currently serves as Intermountain Health's medical director for its partnership with the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation where she coordinates medical care for the athletes who participate in events at the UOLF facilities. “I am excited to serve in this role, as ACSM has been my professional home from the beginning,” said Dr. Jaworski. “ACSM has afforded me the opportunity to collaborate with experts within medicine, the basic sciences as well as the applied science fields. It has also allowed me to mentor young clinicians on the importance of exercise through many educational initiatives. The ability to now expand these collaborations at a higher level to enhance ACSM’s vision to ‘extend and enrich lives through the power of movement’ resonates with me both as a physician and as an athlete.” Beginning June 1, her main role as president-elect will be coordination and oversight of ACSM’s annual meeting that brings together sports medicine leaders and providers from around the world. Dr. Jaworski's role will expand as she becomes president for the 2025-2026 year to include many opportunities to influence legislation and initiatives as it relates to the promotion of movement and physical activity. Her final year will be serving as past president for 2026-2027.
