Be cautious: culture and leadership have changed

There are a few talented and thoughtful people left at the company, but they have lost their spark and are being micromanaged. It was such a great company before, now I don't even recognise it.

The culture has changed significantly, which is really sad as it was a great place to work a few years ago. In my experience, people who focus on pleasing leadership and saying what management wants to hear are rewarded more than those who bring real expertise, knowledge and independent thinking. They have created a culture where people are afraid to speak honestly, independent thinking is discouraged, and employees feel pressured rather than trusted. The result is low morale and several talented people either leaving or mentally checking out. There is a growing gap between the company’s stated values and how employees were actually treated. There have been multiple layoffs over the past year, which were handled with very bad taste and inconsistency between people. Morale is very low especially for leadership and C Level, and many people seem to be staying because of the difficult job market rather than because they believe in the company or its leadership.
