[Disclaimer - this is very DS-oriented]
- Management often non-technical, which means a lot of time is spent in meetings explaining data science concepts to and/or trying to raise funding for projects
- Presentation is sometimes valued more than content or results
- Heavy internal politics, with some managers focused more on outcompeting their many rivals than helping teams
- Bureaucratic operations (tons of legal approvals for data science projects), that slow work considerably
- Germany is not a big market for Elsevier, which puts a break on promotions unless you relocate to London or Amsterdam hubs (but maybe this is a plus for some people :-))
