Pros
Smart people carrying the weight of the company at the bottom. BU was very close knit and had a great, supportive working culture. The main asset of this place was really our service quality and brains at the lower levels, I think. We did have good, well respected managers in the BU as well.
Kontras
There was a lot of disconnect between Germany (HQ) and the regional entities, it seemed. Every month, some country head was getting replaced and we would see a notice from global HR with some cryptic language about it and no real explanation. And paradoxically, there was also quite a bit of inefficient micromanaging from the mothership when things were not going well. The C level people and senior leaders were very aloof but also did not seem to trust us. Which came off as not respecting us, even though we were doing everything being asked, and often contradictory orders. The right hand did not know what the left hand was doing, per se. I’m not sure any of the senior guys at HQ had people skills, nor did they consider how to retain their best performers besides assuming that people will stay because the company was very great. We all got so many head hunters calling as a result I think. I only learned market pay was higher after I left. Someone else in the reviews mentioned hubris and maybe that is true then. I heard they fired a BU head recently and then just gave the employees a half a** explanation—like they were children not entitled to more transparency.
