Pros
Great co-workers. Central location. Bus pass.
Kontras
When my employer was acquired by Walgreens I was told by management that there would be a lot of growth and opportunity in the next few years. Instead, our access to internal opportunities (from US job postings to employee perks/discounts) was limited or nonexistent. My projects lost support and were slowly starved of resources. And my favourite colleagues left for brighter opportunities one by one. Eventually, I left too. A few years after my departure, they announced that the Canadian offices were going to close completely, and all remaining staff were laid off over the course of half a year. Working for Walgreens proper might be swell, but working for an acquisition with a location overseas felt like being abandoned over and over again.
