Pros

I joined for the higher salary and the perception (which turned out to be untrue) of a dynamic, tech-savvy company, but the benefits stop at the misleading perceptions.

In UnderwriteMe, senior managers rely on politics and fear rather than setting a positive example, resulting in a toxic culture across all teams. I'm eager to secure another position or return to my previous employer. The company operates at a loss in the uninspiring insurance sector and is burdened with outdated technology and led by insurance professionals who are poorly leading technology teams. Although there are assurances of transitioning to modern technologies, the leadership's incompetence prevents any progress in this regard.

Thank you for your feedback. We are saddened to read that the job and company hasn’t lived up to your expectations and that you feel there is a toxic culture across the tech teams. We have had a few new joiners in the tech teams recently and this is the first time we are receiving this kind of feedback. Politics and toxicity have no place here at UnderwriteMe so if you are experiencing this then please speak to the People Team for us to address this. We are happy to have a confidential conversation to understand which senior managers are failing in their roles and where we need to take action. We are currently bringing in new and diverse talent as well as new technologies to help achieve our strategic objectives. This does take time but if you are not seeing progress please do let us know where you think we can make changes faster. We always want to hear what ideas people have and how we can continue to improve and innovate.

Nothing related to UnderwriteMe, only the parent company whose benefits filtered down.

Where do I start. Majority of the senior team do not have any idea how to run a product engineering organisation. Constant change in priorities, nothing delivered of any note. Constant change in senior team members with no improvement. Non-existent strategy. Constant surveys but nothing done with them. Management do not listen to employees. Constant in-fighting. Terrible blame culture, each silo protecting their own and blaming the other team. Complete lack of accountability. Data driven and metric driven, unless you are management who impose changes on 'gut feel'.

Its all good; parent company has deep pockets nothing matters too much work life balance, many meeting to attend you may never actually do any work
