Pros
Good safety culture, lots of overtime, per diems, generally high volumes of work through the field season. Fun and respectful fellow employees. For a summer gig, the workload is very reasonable.
Kontras
Too many upper managers that haven't done the jobs themselves which can lead to inefficient operations and logistical planning. Pay is way, way below industry standard, especially for seasonal staff who take on supervisory positions. Pay has not changed for many years to account for inflation, level of skill or increasing responsibilities in the job. Wage disparities seem to exist for very little reason even if people have the same level of skill or experience and in some cases more experienced workers with more seniority are paid less than new, less experienced workers, making for some extremely frustrated seasonal staff. For seasonal workers, pay is capped at $22/hr no matter how useful you are to the company or how long you have been there for. Field assistants who act as supervisors and take on the extra liability of signing off on safety meetings are not paid extra for the responsibility and are still called "field assistants" on their official job title. Very little room for career progression.
