Pros

* With 15 years commercial experience, I have never worked for such a great company and I could come to that conclusion in a very short amount of time after joining due to the entirely different experience to other companies. * The culture is king at TransReport for many reasons including their strict cultural process around hiring not just for skills but for personality. * As a developer I am used too working in departments or with tech departments based heavily on ego, who could shout the loudest or people being taken at face value of their job role title - none of that exists at TR to the point its slightly errie! * Zero 'dev ego' and no matter your role or team you can suggest or fix and know it will be taken professionally and properly and you will never just be shut down or told its not your place. * Despite having different products initially MVP made in different ways, we now are implementing a consistent front end and back end set of stacks and beginning to mature our processes and documentation and the management give us the time to do whatever we feel needs to be done - rather than forcing us to only focus on business requirements. * We have multiple calls based just around helping each other solve problems across all development teams or we take turns to present useful technical presentations on any topic we wish and people get every Friday afternoon to tune in and learn about something new or different for once. :) * We have properly hired and very capable DevOps & QA teams which a lot of modern development teams still lack the proper implementation of, allowing the developers to focus on developing the product and other engineers handling our consistent deployment processes and look after our infrastructure/double testing and checking thoroughly of our features and enhancements to keep us in the code. * The onboarding process is amazing and everybody is so welcoming and helpful that you don't find yourself sat around wondering what your supposed to be doing or feeling isolated, your taken straight into the fold and assigned to a project and feel like a valued part of the team from day 1!

Honestly I think there isn't any cons to the working environment or the people in my experience so far, as I have to list one realistic one I would say the only problem is that we can't all work on the exact same GMT timezone - but again TR makes it work with their culture & flexibility with our developers across the world.

Pros

Great salary, great people (at the time) and fully remote environment. I really enjoyed working here. The management weren't the most proactive but they were nice people and did give updates promptly. The developers were amazing. In terms of company culture, this company had a lot of positives because it was an international company who had good morals and spoke with kindness. I can't say anything wrong about the people.

I think everything went downhill after the new CTO joined (he used to be at JustEat company). After he joined, we saw people being made redundant left right and centre. He also brought a cut throat mentality to the work place. Gave us a warning on his first 'all-hands' that there will be cuts. This was unfortunately a scare tactic that eventually came true. I joined the company and was let go 6 months later, on the day of my 'probation' ending. Alongside at least 30 other people, we were let go and never to be seen. From what I heard since I got let go, they did more cuts and even fired people that helped build them to where they are today. I was even told that they micromanage people's AI usage and get rid of people who are 'prompting' too often on LLM's (something they decided to switch to after letting go of lots of people). The CEO/Founder is also responsible. He would fake 'cry' when people were made redundant to try make people think he is emotional and cares. But realistically he doesn't care and that was just a performance to get the people who are still there, to be onboard with the changes.

Pros

Amazing people from all over the world. The compensation is also very good when I joined, the best I’ve ever had. Full remote working environment when I was there.

They will just see you as a number here, not a human person. I got laid off as soon as I returned from paternity leave. There was a change in CTO, who ruined the great working culture here. He used to work at Just Eat and decided to basically cut cost by getting rid of so many people. iOS team used to be 8 people working across 3 different apps. That got reduced to 2. From what I heard, they switched to React Native soon after I left to reduce the work force even more to the point the devs who created the new RN app, got sacked. I heard many negative things since I’ve left. The founder is also quite brutal. Comes across as an empathetic person but he will lay people off every 6 months. I believe it’s a company who did so well to have a good collective of people who tried hard for the business due to the nature of the business, but soon became all about numbers.
