Pros

My coworkers are nice, and if you can make it past the 2 week training period, $25 an hour is serious money

Kontras

There’s a donation quota, and if you fail to make that quota during the training period, they fire you. Once you make it past the training period you have to miss your quota for 2 weeks in a row to get fired, but still, you only ever have 2 weeks of job security. The quota also doesn’t make allowances for circumstance, like cold weather making people more brusque and less willing to talk to strangers. Speaking of cold weather, canvassing in winter is miserable. I wear 4 layers when I’m out in the field (base layer, sweater, coat, mandatory vest) and I’m still freezing. I go to bed at night with my body still cold.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We do our best to be as transparent as possible around quota. Unfortunately, it is a necessary aspect of this line of work. Our quota ensures that we meet the fundraising expectations of our NPO partners while also being able to run our business and pay our staff. It is the same quota we have had since we started in 2015 and is on the lower end of the industry. We do our best to be as transparent as possible throughout the entire onboarding process around quota and why we have it. I'm sorry that you feel that this was not the case. We strive to provide consistent, year-round work opportunities for all of our staff, regardless of market location. Due to the nature of the position, this includes fundraising as weather conditions change. We do our best to support our staff and manage our teams during the winter months of our colder markets, but there is only so much we can do as an organization.

Pros

You will learn not only a lot about the organizations you're fundraising for but about yourself as well. The people you work with are great and you get to spend a lot of time talking to people about things you care about. They respect a work and home life balance and will not bother you during your time away from work.

Kontras

This entire job is rejection therapy. It is not easy by any means but rewarding when you do succeed. The quota is very high for how difficult the task is. My tablet system was not working in my last week and I lost plenty of donors. Management is nice but your failures are always "mindset" and often times exercises toxic positivity.

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful feedback and for highlighting what you enjoyed about your experience. We’re glad to hear you valued the passion of the team, the work-life balance, and the opportunity to represent causes you care about. Those connections are at the heart of what we do. We also recognize that face-to-face fundraising can be challenging — rejection is part of the job, and we know it takes resilience to succeed. Our quotas exist to ensure we meet the commitments we’ve made to our nonprofit partners, but we’re continually working to provide better tools, training, and coaching to help our fundraisers feel supported along the way. We’re sorry to hear about the technical issues you experienced with your tablet and understand how frustrating that must have been. We’ll share your feedback with our operations team so we can continue improving processes and resources in the field. Thank you again for your contributions and for helping drive impact on behalf of the organizations we represent.
