Pros

Everything from the on-boarding to receiving your schedule is incredibly efficient. I did my 1st 2 days of training virtually at home with a manager leading the classes and the Assistant Manager had my hours punched in before I confirmed. Before day 1 in the store, I already had info in my email regarding selecting part-time insurance. I also had 2 uniform shirts, a locker, and a lock prior to staring. Nothing (from clocking in, to giving a discount to doing a return) is difficult, and the way they do things just makes logical sense. There are several leads and supervisors so the 2 managers are free to do their jobs and keep the store running efficiently. The store has all the details dialed in (example: we have soap, and pens, and bags are stocked in size order). They have this "1 is 3" mentality; essentially that 1 great employee equals 3 mediocre ones so there's minimal negativity. Work/life balance is easy because you can trade shifts in their app, and/or request to take more shifts in the same app. Another value they have is "Win-Win" and they believe another person/team doesn't have to lose for another to gain. It's the least toxic place I've worked in probably 2 decades. Store Manager leads by example. Assistant and all leads are always actively assisting on the sales floor and have a wealth of knowledge. They offer part-time benefits including 401k, dental, medical, and vision. Employee discount is generous and starts on your 1st day. There's transparency with sales plan and there's open communication. There are thousands and thousands of SKUs, so the mobile device we use allows us to type in things people ask for and we can show them photos. The device will also tell us if it's in stock and what department it's featured in. The device also will tell you the next date it'll be replenished if it's sold out. There's no guess work, so communicating with customers is genuine, accurate, and concise.

Kontras

Hours scheduled fluctuates. You do tell they them during the interview how many hours a week you'd like to work, so be transparent. I was not specific, and my shifts vary greatly. Pay for entry position is low, but you can become a lead, a supervisor, part-time custom closet designer, full-time designer, etc. Benefits for full-timers are more comprehensive than part-time, including but not limited to fertility benefits not offered to part-timers. After being trained, you are "zoned" to your area alone, so if you're someone who wants to shadow for a long time, you could be easily overwhelmed. There's no product-knowledge training. You have to play with product, dust, straighten, and stock it to learn where it goes, or play with the mobile device to teach yourself which brands are carried.

Pros

Everyone from director level on down in my department was great. Very collaborative. Gave you autonomy to do and try new things.

Kontras

Where do I start…Sr. Leadership is TERRIBLE. I mean absolutely horrific. No direction and plans were changing at the drop of a dime after the BB&B “merger”. You could feel the shift in the culture, just NASTY attitudes and taking the employees for granted. The new CEO and the rest of Sr. level execs acted like everyone was just expendable workhorses. They touted reopening the headquarters cafe as some awesome benefit so they could bring people back to the office full time. If you’re going to be bullish and require everyone back, have some guts and just do it. But don’t act like a cafe is some life changing benefit to get everyone excited. Anyway, blind leading the blind. The merit increase or raises - non existent. No 401k match. Nothing positive because the company is so broke. The new store concept sounds a mess. Save yourself and don’t even apply, let alone accept an offer. Joel Bines is no longer the CEO. He was a great guy and I think he had great ideas. Marcus Lemonis is the new CEO and I would give him a thumbs down.
