DO NOT WORK HERE! Despite the OLD press about this being a great place to work and how much training you receive that is not applicable anymore. Here is a snapshot of what's it like to work at The Container Store: -As a part-time employee you will be paid close to minimum wage and expected to sell $15,000 custom closet systems with NO bonuses, NO commission and also clean bathrooms once the store closes and ring customers at the register by yourself. There is no hazard pay due to Covid and no pay differential for overnight night or early morning shifts. You will leave your shift each day tired and stressed out because most likely you will be the only person on the floor to help angry, entitled customers. And most of the time you won't be able to help them because TCS cut back training significantly. -As a full time employee, you will deal with all the things part-time employees have to do (see above), but you will also be expected to perform the duties of a manager without the pay, bonuses or title. You will have to deal with dumb corporate decisions that will make your job harder. You will deal with inventory that is never accurate, constantly having to move product around per corporate direction that doesn't result in additional sales and a ridiculous and time-wasting truck merchandise process. -As a manager your job is to staff the store as thinly as possible and sell $15,000 closets that no one has the money to buy in this economy. You will not receive any marketing, advertising or pr support for your store/market. You will not have any budget to cross train employees on different roles in the store. You will be severely impacted by dumb corporate decisions that don't increase your store sales. You will also be beat up over improving your store's POP enrollment numbers, TCS's customer loyalty program that most customers don't receive any discounts or benefits from anyway.
