As soon as I saw a 5 star review from the general manager, I had to come and chime in. The general manager is great, but she might as well be the owner. She’s the one left to deal with the mess & day-to-day stress while the owners party & travel on their own boats across Europe. I could probably count on one hand the amount of times I physically saw the owners in person; we would also get texts from the owner asking who’s working, because he has absolutely no idea or care for the reservations position. I had the worst working experience of my life here. You will be yelled at daily by guests. You will work late hours (on holidays too!) and be asked to stay later and start work earlier. You will also be a part of the maintenance team: spending hours of your time fixing WiFi, TV problems, as well as door lock troubleshooting when you need to make sales. I answered thousands of emails calls and texts every day, to be told the owner was mad at us for not doing enough. I even tried to take PTO for a vacation, to be told they were too busy for me to take off. The icing on the cake to that would be that when I was let go, I got absolutely none of my PTO (it’s in the contract). However, if you don’t work reservations and you get to work in the office, I can 100% guarantee that you’ll have a better time. In-office workers got to travel to condo locations to look at properties and count it as their clocked in hours. Most of the in-office workers are directly related/family friends with the owner, some really bad at their job but never reprimanded for it. If you’ve heard of the saying to never trust a business that puts so much emphasis on “being a family,” well, this is a perfect example. There was constant tension from the reservations team and the in-office team. They treated us as lesser-than, when in reality this company would be absolutely nothing without the reservations team. The position shouldn’t even be called a “reservationist,” trust me when I say making reservations is a very small part of what you have to put up with. Find another company that cares about their employees, or try to get a job in the office. $15/hr is pretty basic and you can find something elsewhere.
