Pros
- Competitive salaries and excellent health insurance. - If you are a rock-star performer, it will be noticed and likely rewarded. - Company is a minority-owned small business and has minorities in several key senior positions. - You can advance quickly here. - The company employs some very talented individuals that are a pleasure to work with.
Kontras
- Because the company is so small, you should expect to have to find another job yourself when a contract ends. There is no "bench" between assignments. - Atmosphere is cliquey. While what you know will help you here (see above), who you know will get you farther. For example, office assignments don't seem to be based on seniority. The choice, private offices just seem to go to management's favorites. - The company has a tendency to put inexperienced people in positions of authority. I found myself working under someone who, while extremely talented and intelligent, was not skilled at people management and was relatively inexperienced in general. - HR processes are not mature. For example, they had to lay off several people towards the end of their largest contract and did so with no notice and very limited severance (just a few days). They were mostly senior (and probably expensive) people rather than those who were performing poorly. - By the same token, gross incompetence is not dealt with effectively or swiftly. You should expect to have to work with and for people who aren't very good at their jobs and/or are lazy. While there are a lot of great people here, there is also a lot of dead weight.
