I have worked with other product-based companies, but my experience with this organization was unfortunately the worst. I believe that if the leadership worked more effectively, the company could achieve much better results. The CEO, Sandeep, tends to micromanage employees at every level, leaving little room for autonomy. Ramachandran, the Product Head, operates with an attitude and behavior that give the impression he owns the company - and notably, the CEO rarely, if ever, challenges him. In my experience, even though I was reporting to Saveetha, HR Head, all reviews, feedback, and decisions were controlled solely by the CEO. The HR Head would simply agree with everything without defending her team or making independent decisions. At times, it felt like I might as well have reported directly to the CEO. It left me questioning the actual role and authority of an HR Head in the organization. Another problematic dynamic is with Ramachandran. He expects employees to constantly meet, greet, and consult him on every matter. Failing to “obey” this unwritten expectation often leads to targeting and eventual exit. Unfortunately, the CEO supports his actions without question. Additionally, the company culture seems to favor personal biases. If the CEO likes someone, they are safeguarded no matter what. If not, they are quickly placed on a PIP and exited. A troubling practice is the annual assessments, where employees who repeatedly fail are placed on a PIP and eventually exited.
