Pros

- Some great colleagues and collaboration inside teams

Kontras

I have worked at a number of tech companies, this by far had the most toxic atmosphere - for numerous reasons. Firstly, cultural: There is a group of senior management and friends that sits at the top of the company and dominates the company culture. This culture is outdated and consists of 'bantering' and exchanges of anecdotes that are almost always insensitive to anyone else listening. A 9am and 5pm mandatory every day meeting consists almost entirely of this groups 'banter'. This culture is alienating to anyone who is not of this persuasion. Any indication that the company cares about mental health and adjacent topics is entirely lip service, with no actual action. The working culture is also awful. Sales are made significantly above and beyond the capacity for delivery. This results in teams having to crunch to appease clients who've been made wildly delusional promises of delivery. This almost always results in both burnout and poor quality delivery, Requiring more crunch and overtime. Overtime was unpaid. Any discussion of the above issues was invariably met with disbelief, questioning of character and encouragements to "pull together for the business".

Pros

Product is good and provides a powerful tool to customers. Tech lead in Manchester and project management team are hard working and highly experienced.

Kontras

Senior management, particularly recent hires, talk a good game when it comes to staff wellbeing, but never follow through. A number of people have left very recently, taking a lot of knowledge and skills with them, but management didn’t seem to care and made a lot of panic hires, placing people in roles that were badly specified and leaving huge gaps.
