Pros

This is a great place to work. I am surrounded by many intelligent and hard working people. As an engineer, I am given flexibility, independence (when necessary), and the resources I need to get my job done. Engineers are given the best computer hardware money can afford as well as access to many software resources. My teammates constantly push me to become a better engineer through mentoring and encouragement. Our engineering efforts are user focused, making each project rewarding. Additionally, SmartFile sponsors and develops several open source projects which gives us the opportunity to give back to the open source community. Other perks: - Free snacks, candy, and drinks - Beating everyone at ping pong - Flexible hours and office areas to work

Kontras

This isn't a place for slacking off

Lots of opportunity for growth. Great coworkers and environment to be a part of. Office location is wonderful and centralized for activities.

Kontras

As a company in the growth phase, lots of process and procedures are being worked out and put in place.

Pros

First off, the culture. Unlike any corporate job out there, SmartFile seeks to have not only have happy customers, but also happy employees. They also provide some great amenities such as ping pong, a nice break room, basketball on Fridays, standing desks, and all around enthusiastic people. Being a software engineer here, I figure I should review the stack as well. The backend is mostly Python(Django) with a Go-Lang script here and there. The front-end consists of mostly javascript with the backbone.js library. They are currently in the process of moving to a microservices architecture from a monolithic application which is a pretty big undertaking considering a number of features provided. Their take on agile is a bit unorthodox, but after a month or so it starts to feel pretty good, especially compared to other semi-agile companies around the area.

Kontras

Being, in the Stutz building, they just can't get the entire office to the same temp.
