At one point, I applied for a managerial position that required completing a non-trivial test assignment, taking more than 8 hours to complete. To my surprise, instead of receiving feedback on the completed task, I got a brief note saying the company had already chosen another candidate. Best practices in professional recruitment: When a position involves a test assignment, and you expect candidates to invest their time and effort, it is good practice to assign such tasks to several top candidates simultaneously during the final stage to respect their time. If, for any reason, that isn’t possible, providing detailed feedback is essential so candidates receive at least some return on their time investment. And if the company couldn't analyze the test assignment, the recruiter should at least make an effort to appear as though the task was reviewed and offer some kind of feedback. Such details speak far more about a company’s professionalism and approach than any self-praising statements in job postings or public communications.
