Pros

The people are great and truly care about doing the right thing for the clients.

Kontras

I was recently demoted, here's my story. My manager chose not to do the right thing by standing up for me, which just makes me feel disgusted w/ this company and management's extreme actions in the way they chose to handle this situation (more below). They need to let thier direct reports know that anything that is stated in confidence can and will be used against them later on when it suits the company since that's what they did to me and I assume since they are publicly traded and you've gotta take care of your shareholders first right... -I was told that I changed the information that was sent out by management because I paraphrased statements about OEP comp even though I was just pointing out the facts that normalized ADE was being used during AEP and working ADE was being used for OEP. I assume folks higher-up didn't like my word choice because I said it was being reviewed because that's what we were told since the majority of leadership and agents were upset about the change. -I was also demoted for appointing an "acting team lead" to only watch my team chat when I was away. My manager said that I promised an actual Team Lead position which is 100% incorrect since I don't have the power to give someone a promotion with a pay increase. However, that didn't matter and it didn't matter that I never promised a pay increase or an actual team lead position since it was stated in the original email and the clarifying email that it was an "acting TL position". Just to clarify for the ones that are confused or unfamiliar with the meaning of "acting', it means"acting as or filling in for, or taking over a position temporarily". You all are smart enough to know what temporarily means. Anyway, I was accused of doing so regardless. Also, just for back story sake, last year I appointed an acting team lead since as supervisors we are encouraged to show our leadership skills and make choices that will help our team out but oh no not this year. Maybe if different words were used like chat helper or some other name, but because I used the magic words "team lead" in the info line, stuff hit the fan. -The last nail that was in my coffin so to speak was the fact that there was confusion at the beginning of AEP about when agents would be working the first weekend and all teams were confused until clarification was sent out by leadership. So even though leaders make mistakes themselves they are not held accountable which was confirmed by HR and nothing could be done to correct this. I was told that these concerns were so super disruptive they made my team lose trust and they made such a huge negative impact on my team that warranted a demotion. The funny thing is my team never reported a complaint about me or my leadership to HR which was confirmed by HR when I spoke w/ them. HR even stated that management realized that they may have overreacted in my situation but nothing could be done. So my takeaway from all this is 1. someone didn't like that I was taking up for my folks, 2. I didn't get permission to name an acting team lead beforehand but we were not told by management that approval was required. 3. it's okay to point out others' mistakes but not management because they are not held accountable but everyone else is. 4. My previous agent is suing the company which all equals up to a bunch of petty mess and I got the short end of the stick. In closing.... FYI folks beware of paraphrasing even if what you say is true cause it could upset someone in higher management just saying. In my experience with leadership, they will do whatever they need to do once given the orders to do so to cover their actions which sheds light on some other folks leaving or being encouraged to leave. Many may think that I'm just writing this cause I'm angry and I was angry and hurt for a long time and im still heartbroken because I put so much into this company however I've had time to process this and I hold no ill will against anyone except for the person or persons in higher management that sent the order down the line to be enforced. If you truly know me you know I have no problem calling it like it is because facts never lie. This just seems to be a poor attempt to do damage control because someone messed up and fired someone that they shouldn't have from what I understand so yeah good luck SQ.

Pros

Work from home. This is NOT a remote position and you are expected to be wired with an ethernet connection. Them promoting these roles as remote is false advertisement

Kontras

MULTIPLE open law suits, some that are highly concerning for the companies ability to remain operational in the near future. The activities covered in the open law suits are STILL happening, including steering and TCPA violations. You will talk to people who have been called by the company 5 or 6 times just that day and you WILL be cussed out for it. There is a constant threat of layoffs hanging over your head, seriously, they'll brag about record profits and 20 minutes later hold a meeting to talk about potential layoffs. THE GOALS ARE CONSTANTLY CHANGING. Your managers will CONSTANTLY be changing, so do NOT expect any kind of stability with this company. The health insurance is wildly expensive if you have a family to cover. You are expected to mislead people. As others have said, SelectQuotes main leads come from TV, internet and social media ads promoting a multiple-thousand dollar food card. To low-income seniors. Who then have their souls crushed to find out there was never a food card. They have now also started hijacking callers to other insurance companies. Meaning you'll take a call and the person will say I called the number on the back of my insurance card, what do you mean I'm not calling my insurance?! Oh and when that person doesn't "opt-in" it counts against you. THE GOALS ARE CONSTANTLY CHANGING. You will be paid minimum wage. Yes, you earn commissions and during AEP those can be multiple thousands of dollars a month (for 2-3 months) but the other 6-9 months of the year you are lucky to break $1000 commission and since they're paid as a bonus you lose 40% of that to tax. You are also not guaranteed to actually make the commissions you earn. If your QA score is .01% below their ever changing goal, your commissions are deducted. If the mail order pharmacy sign ups you completed didn't actually start their service for ANY reason, even the ones fully out of your control, your commissions are deducted. THE GOALS ARE CONSTANTLY CHANGING. During AEP, you are required to work overtime and weekends. They'll tell you it will only be the occasional weekend, but I worked almost every one last year. I was working 7 days a week, with NO time off! You are given PTO, but they have limited how much PTO they'll grant per day, so you now have calendars with whole months blacked out, months in advance. And you cannot request based on future PTO, so if you don't already have the hours you can't request it and it will end up blacked out before you have the PTO balance available. Policies are not applied equally throughout the department, what is okay for one employee is not for the next. THE GOALS ARE CONSTANTLY CHANGING. If you're internet goes out, it will count as an occurrence. If their systems go down or have issues and you are unable to complete calls, it will count as an occurrence. I am watching coworkers drop like flies after announcing in team chats they are burnt out, exhausted, tired of being/feeling abused. I have watched management promise those employees stability, support, training, etc and seen none of that followed through on. Management will tell you there "will be" opportunities to advance in the company, next year, but until then, nothing. No annual raises or COL adjustments in this role. You will take back to back to back calls, 8 hours a day, every day of the week. ACW expected to be below 2% TOTAL. You will lose your voice. You will have UTIs during AEP. You will also not be able to take time off to see a doctor for those things, even if you can afford the insurance. Most of your coworkers will also be, very obviously, using hard substances during the busy times and it makes for an extremely uncomfortable environment. You will very quickly notice that most people do not stay here longer than 1 year, just enough time to find another position! And the goals are constantly changing, with little or NO notice of those changes until you find out the hard way you're no longer meeting them. We were recently offered around $3000 to recruit new employees, I do not know of a single coworker that actually recruited anyone. It's that bad here that we are willingly passing up on large sums of money during a period where most of us cannot currently pay our bills to avoid bringing this nightmare to our friends and families.
