Pros

The providers are amazing to work with.

Kontras

My paychecks were always messed up. I was forced to violate HIPPA literally DAILY. When I argued it because I didn’t feel comfortable I was reminded that the other scribes did it and didn’t complain. Also was told those other scribes would happily take my hours if I refused to violate HIPPA. I called HR regularly about my concerns and they would email me once saying they were looking into things. Then I would never hear back despite emailing literally daily trying to sort things out (like getting paid properly). They let me skip training, told me I knew what I was doing already, and through me into the field completely unprepared. I never had the agreed on pay increase after my training “ended” since it never actually started. I asked for help several times and was completely confused about procedures. They were extremely rude to me each time I contacted them with questions. I went from clinic to clinic, not able to develop relationships with physicians that would make me feel comfortable asking them for a reference. The purpose of the job for myself and many other people there is getting references in the medical field, but now I just want to leave this entire experience off my resume because it was so terrible.

Pros

Medical experience! Some of the providers were great!

Kontras

The management was poor. The hours are not secure. I wanted full-time (which was promised to me) but ended up working mostly pastime. I told them I wanted to work centrally so that I would be able to commute since I did not have a car at the time. They said they had positions in that area so I took the job only to find out during orientation that they had not secured the contract. I ended up having to work far west in Goodyear and North in Phoenix which were 2 hours of commute. I had told them it was too far, but they did not have a contract for hospital yet either. I also came to find out that some of the providers they put me with were on a trial period and were free to stop the contract should they feel they did not require a scribe any longer. Many of them did not know how to utilize a scribe to their advantage or got new EMR systems that deemed a scribe useless which meant I lost my scribe position. The pay was too low and the travel was too far for me to want to continue to work there. I was far too stressed.
