Pros

The multicultural atmosphere is great in the Sobeys warehouse I work at. I see people all kinds of different people with different backgrounds here each shift. I’ve also gained work experience from both Hampers and Recoup that I can add to my resume. Also, I’m technically doing work for the food bank and therefore helping others.

Kontras

Management doesn’t seem to care about it’s employees and seem very cut-throat. The environment where I work is usually very chaotic which makes it harder to stay focused when you have ADD like I do or ADHD, and the person overseeing the Hampers section of the warehouse (not naming names) is a bit hot-headed and won’t hesitate to call out on it if you or a coworker isn’t working fast enough. I’ve also noticed a lot of favouritism from her between my coworkers and I, a lot of comparing coworkers to each other right in front of our faces, and just a lot of drama overall. Also, in my personal experience, it’s not uncommon to go home at the end of the shift with a really sore back from standing hunched over and putting food items in plastic bags repeatedly all day.

Pros

Friendly and helpful colleagues, weekly pay and flexible schedule

Kontras

When it is busy, it is very busy. Lunch/Break may get pushed back or even denied in extreme cases because there is no one to cover for you.
