Pros

The administration is dedicated to the students. The schedules are thoughtful and manageable. Time to plan lessons and time for activities with students outside of just academics.

Kontras

No school is perfect. The class sizes can be a little large. It's a new school so everyone is asked to work hard and go beyond their role sometimes.

Pros

College prep, and elective teachers- all in the upper level classes and students seem to enjoy the environment, due to the small class sizes and dedicated students. The building is well-maintained, with each classroom equipped with smart boards and laptops/computers for students. The curriculum is well-laid out. Everything looks clean.

Kontras

The lower grades struggle. Also, the school is still fairly new and has a high staff turnover, especially in classes where there are struggling strudents. There is no support for teachers, the admins have access to the cameras in the classroom both on their laptops/computers/cellphones- mainly to watch the teachers and to see what the teachers are doing. The admins are constantly coming in and out of the classrooms. They overlook behavior problems and offer no support for that. Over half of the students in the school do not speak English at all. The school does not have enough support for large classroom sizes, and it struggles in this area. On top of that teachers are expected to keep a public class website updated with all the current classroom/classwork information, document and keep contact with the parents, provide thorough and engaging lesson plans, put 4 grades weekly in the gradebook and label/categorize them properly, follow an awkward A/B block schedule where the periods are labeled in random letters instead of numbers in numerical order like other schools, and also keep up with long-winded professional development courses. The problematic students pretty much get away with everything. They know the cameras are in the classroom to watch the teachers and not them. There are also a few teachers that are favored there and you can see them eating and using their phone in the classroom.
