Pros
If you are able to be in-person for the summer, be in-person! Coming in a few times a week just to see fellow interns and eat with your team members makes a huge difference in the 10 weeks you have at SAS. The biggest impact was from the people - I mean this in the most genuine way that everyone I talked to, collaborated with, and even messaged on Teams wanted me to learn and make them most of my time at SAS. They either had an answer for my question or directed me to someone else who had it. No negative experience/feedback from the work culture or employees there. This was my first internship, so there were a lot of professional development events and webinars for both hybrid and remote interns to attend -- really helpful when you are just starting out your career in industry!

Although it is a well-supported internship from an HR standpoint, a lot of the technical work I did was self-driven and self-determined. I came to later be grateful for freedom to explore and learn what I wanted to over the summer, but when I first came in, I was completely lost in what I should be working on since no explicit assignments were given until a bit after. Granted this could have been from my own team and what they expected from me.
