Let’s start with training and onboarding. This was the most unorganized chaotic haphazard training that I have ever received. Training for new hires in core processes to the company’s preproduction are conducted by team members that lack the sensitivity of nuance to facilitate genuine understanding of design procedure. The designated team trainer clearly had unresolved issues with specific minority groups. Racial and gender bias are the two most pronounced aspects of the culture within the design team. And it only gets worse teams are led by fear an intimidation. Open dialogue is often discouraged micromanagement seems to be built into the fabric of the design teams. The design team could also benefit from emotional intelligence (EQ) training and diversity sensitivity training. Ruggable is still a young company however this is no excuse for not investing into to EQ training for their team members and leadership. So that all team members can feel valued and appreciated. And diversity does not mean only hiring female designers from specific “acceptable minority groups.” And purposely excluding specific minorities of people does not enhance “the culture” of the company it just narrows the point of view.
