I really liked the updated tele room you and one other tech have a decent size space your own restroom in your office space mini fridge microwave also if you have absolutely no experience in telemetry this department will train you it is a good way to get the experience of 6months most other places require you to do tele monitoring the hospital offers payroll deductable for meals and uniforms uniform store right in hospital that is always convenient they are trying to expand that is also always good and dandy timeclock inside your office another plus and tuition assistance available to you on your first day no waiting period to be eligible so that was neat...I’m trying to be fair before I go to the cons

Department has a shortage no prn flexi people to fill in the hole or pick up so you end up in a room with a nurse that might have never even set foot in a tele room and has no idea but they fill in techs do not get their breaks if management is busy you cannot leave the room and have you coworker keep an eye on your station like how nurses go to lunch and other nurses keep an eye on their patients this is the first tele department I have worked in that implanted this rule if you get sick on the job and no one can come in to cover you Angela will write you up even though hospital policy does not allow you to be there if you are seriously ill i.e. vomiting the strips are redundant after you do your first set of strips you continue to chart every four hours if it’s Sinus Rhythm you chart that every four hours measurements included. You end up doing some much busy work it’s easy for you to get lost in the chart work versus keeping an eye out for arrhythmia changes. They have their favorites and that is never conducive to setting an ethical and professional work environment. Everyone shares their stories of why they didn’t show up to work and to hear this person say they had a headache so they called out and management is aware but no action was taken. Just be prepared to deal with unfair treatment. Also this is the lowest paying telemetry tech position I have worked. I took the job because the proximity to my home but if you are looking for decent pay and better treatment holter monitoring really anything across the water because trust me when I tell you it just is not worth it.
