Pros
It is a fast-paced retail environment that can be fun, especially when helping excited little kids build their dream cars. If you work at Disneyland/Disney World, you get some Cast Member benefits such as free entry to the parks! That's literally the only perk that makes this job worth having and is the main reason why many individuals don't quit. The scheduling was incredibly flexible while I was there but current employees tell me that's not nearly the case anymore, especially now that double "Call in" shifts are required.
Kontras
Management is horrendous. They hired internally based on who sucked up the most, not based on talent or ability. Very few of the managers have any experience and do not know how to run this type of store efficiently. The pay is horrible and the annual raises are often marred by BS monthly reviews in which your performance is almost never objectively considered. I was given a 5 out of 5 star (or however they measured it-I can't remember) review one month and a 2 star review the next with little to no explanation. This was quite common and was largely based on the attitude of the specific manager on the specific day that the review was given. These ratings directly play into how much your raise will be and so this was extremely frustrating. Also, crew members who lead birthday bashes are not compensated extra even though other crew members successfully refuse to lead birthday bashes or avoid them by purposefully doing so horribly during some poor kid's birthday celebration that the management doesn't want to deal with the embarrassment enough to make them lead one again. It's really easy for crew members to manipulate the system and work far less than their coworkers in every respect. When I was hired, career opportunities and job advancements were often praised as a great aspect of this job by my boss. Unfortunately after so many mistakes in hiring internally my first year there, Ridemakerz went the opposite direction and now almost exclusively hires outside of the company for management positions. Starting pay is minimum wage. Nothing special.
