Pros
Good place to start. Good co-workers
Kontras
He hires you as a part time but you have to work as a full time. No benefit. Jason the owner does not provide Vacation or Holiday pay or health insurance even though he wants most of the instructors work 5 days a week(7 hours a day). Some instructors even work 6 days but that does not make you full time! He schedules the instructors for long hours (6 hours) without break time and the instructors accept that because he won't pay for break time(there is no 10 or 15 minute paid break AT ALL!) so instructors work a lot to be able to pay the bills. The other big problem there is their cancellation policy which only benefits the customers and mostly the owner. let me explain: When a student cancel with 24 hours notice, the academy will charge them but they won't pay the instructor until that student schedule his/her make up. Most of the times those students never schedule the make ups and the academy will take the money without paying the instructor. I remember when I left I had some students having more than 15 make up lessons left and they all expired( make up lessons expires in one year) I've ask many times from the front desk to call students to schedule their make ups or even let me my self call them but she said: Jason doesn't like that because then the customers always expect us to call and schedule their make ups. Well this is the most stupid reason I've ever heard in my life but I know that's not the reason. the reason is since that customer have paid the academy then the academy doesn't care about instructor. if that student don't schedule the make up then the academy doesn't need to pay the instructor for that lesson and will take all the money for him self. Recitals: Jason does not pay for recitals but he expect you be in there( 4 days a year) and watch your student playing. While you are at recital you won't be able to teach and he will not pay you for being at the recital.
