Recent executive leadership changes have had a significant negative impact on workplace culture and staff retention.
In my experience, senior leadership lacked the experience required for their roles and demonstrated limited openness to feedback or challenge. Decision-making often appeared driven by ego rather than collaboration or technical input, which led to poor outcomes being attributed to others, while successes were centrally claimed.
There was a noticeable pattern of gaslighting, reduced visibility for contributors, and an unwillingness to accept responsibility when issues arose. This created an environment where psychological safety was low and professional input was frequently dismissed.
The impact on staff morale and retention has been substantial. Over the past 18 months, approximately 27 employees left the business, including multiple long-standing employees with 8+ years of service. Many departures were directly linked to the executive leadership style and the resulting toxic environment.
Professional development opportunities diminished significantly, and the organisation moved away from valuing experience, accountability, and respectful leadership.
