Pros
I've learned a lot during my nine months with RLS, and met a lot of good people.
Kontras
Randy Sparks manages his stress by "passing it on" to his subordinates. If you go to work for him, stay out of the office and on site as much as possible. He set me up at a desk within eyeshot of his office, and I became his favorite target. He eventually said he expected 25 pages a day of output, because he thinks technical writing is the same as typing, and he thinks he types 25 pages of email a day. Industry standard for tech writing is about 2 pages per day, average, for an entire project. He didn't bother to learn that, or to believe me when I told him. Instead, he saw it as me challenging his authority. During the 9 months I was there, there was 40% turnover at the company. The clients I was working with were happy with my work, and I was on schedule. But Randy got stressed out and decided to fire me, because that's what makes him feel in control.
