8yI'm sorry to hear that you feel like someone lied to you. We are very open with our pay program and it is explained to all drivers both verbally and in writing before orientation. In addition all drivers review the pay program in orientation and sign an acknowledgment saying they understand the pay program. Our pay program is designed to compensate long haul runs with a base cent per mile rate and a "lump sum" or "flat rate" for runs that are less than 250 miles. The 44 CPM mentioned above is a blended long haul and short haul pay.
Since all loads primarily start out and end back in Elwood, Indiana it makes sense for us to have a local fuel site for cost savings. Drivers are permitted to get fuel (50 gallons) at anytime while on the road, if a driver needs more than 50 gallons of fuel on the road the card is opened to allow the driver to get as much fuel as he needs.
Weekend needs vary from driver to driver and our driver managers work with every driver to find that perfect blend of home-time and revenue. Like at any Trucking Company issues do arise and there will be a possibility that there may be a late/early delivery or pick up from time to time. Our policy is to get drivers home every weekend and we do. The "norm" of home time is based upon when you get home vs. when you go out. For example if something like HOS regulations prevent you from getting home Friday at 5 PM and you get home Saturday morning we will typically not bring you back out until Monday. If you get home on Friday at 9 AM, we might ask you to come back out on Sunday night.
I do apologize that you felt that the issues you were having could not have been worked out by coming to us to discuss them. We are a very accommodating company and try our very best to be respectful of our employees needs and we always strive to make everyone successful.
