Pros

it provided me with a paycheck

Kontras

When we were "acquired" by R1 we were told that it would be okay, and I expected benefits to be different. But the thing that gets me is the ATMOSPHERE here. All anyone seems to care about is numbers and how many numbers you can get - it's all about productivity and not how we treat the patient's...I think in the long run the patient's are going to start noticing and things will go down hill. Unhappy employees = unhappy patient's. Like so many other reviews; I too feel that: A strong, profit-first attitude that can feel demoralizing Numbers matter more than results Middle-and upper management tend to be disconnected from the day to day issues Consistently low morale and lack of trust in leadership among the rank and file employees You will be a walking, talking bill collector. Always understaffed, no competitive pay, no support from management. Send a lot of work offshore leaving American employees looking for work. They do not care as long as they are getting reimbursed.

Pros

The voluntary separation offer was good.

Kontras

I and hundreds of colleagues were transferred from Providence Health & Services to R1. We were told we were guaranteed our jobs for a year. They started offering voluntary separation packages less than a year in. This was suspicious. I didn't take the first couple of offers, but eventually I did - things were feeling uneasy. Since leaving I've heard that there were several layoffs. R1's India team has taken over a lot of the coding we were doing. In the reviews I read before we started with R1 I know losing jobs to the India team was common. I'm glad I left when I did but it's been hard finding a new job.
