Pros

Stock options, healthcare benefits, salary isn't bad. there is the opportunity to work with massive worldwide clients and if you have an interest in security this could be a really exciting place to work. it is clear there are several folks who are happy in Proofpoint, however, it is also clear there are people who are not happy.

Kontras

Micromanagement, poor training, bullying and rude behaviour from fellow colleagues I was hired to work in Product Support and was told there would be 4 months training, this wasn't true there was at best 4 weeks and they expected you to know everything straight away. When you're introduced to the rest of your team (on a zoom call) you're told everyone is so friendly and everyone is here to help, well that was the opposite of my experience. They expect technical engineers to build their own documentation and there is no evidence of any central document repository. it is an incredibly complex product being offered but you're expected t learn it and document it yourself rather than the company providing useful resources. The training I did had was often interrupted by senior engineers having to go on calls or deal with clients, I was left feeling like my training didn't matter. Some of the advisors assigned to train were downright rude and unpleasant and got frustrated and angry when they felt they had to explain something a second time. When managing cases. You're told not to ask for help until you try to find old cases which match the one you're working on. If you don't search for the exact correct terms you won't find anything helpful, except the long gibberish output of Linux logs which don't make any sense to even the most trained advisors. I asked other advisors for input and those that were happy to help often resulted in me sending the customers incorrect information, which ultimately was blamed on me, rather than the people who had trained or directed me Also, Proofpoint is now refusing to let people work in offices again, they are terrified of the Pandemic and the reaction there would be if they asked staff to come into the office, even if only once or twice a week. For most people, permanently working from home can be isolating and frustrating.

Pros

There are a handful of genuinely good people throughout the company - not within leadership.

Kontras

Employees are expected to do more with less- leading to long hours and unsustainable workload. Work-life balance is talked about but not consistently demonstrated by leadership. The culture felt performance-driven at the expense of people. I often felt that employees were valued more for their output than as individuals. Speaking up, challenging decisions, or offering a different perspective did not feel psychologically safe. The CEO’s town hall messaging reinforces this culture. Statements such as “ If you don’t like it here, you can leave” and that employees who don’t learn Ai will be come “obsolete” came across as lacking empathy. Trust in leadership was low from my perspective.
