Pros

-- Leadership is filled with nice people -- Cool opportunity to work in sports media -- Remote work -- Somewhat flexible hours

Kontras

-- Lots of unexplained departures, whether because of poor performance or the need to cut the company's budget -- Plenty of chaos re: company direction, though that might be the nature of a start-up -- Heard enough sexist comments (never from leadership, but too many times from lower-level staff) to realize this place wasn't for me

Pros

The culture at PFN is great, and the executive team cares about their staff as people. It is a tight-knit environment where you are doing something new every day. The strategy changes often, but it's more likely due to the industry rather than a lack of vision.

Kontras

It's sports media, so hours are long, and there's really no such thing as holidays. The workload could be heavy at times, but again, it's sports media so it's to be expected. The executive team does get a lot of pressure from the company above them, and sometimes we feel that pressure, too. They try to shield us from it as much as possible, though, which is appreciated.

Pros

- High-volume, SEO-driven pieces covering up-to-the-minute sports topics - "Unlimited earning potential" based on pay structure - Full-time staff and editors are very willing to give opportunities to cover any sport desired if you prove you can produce quality work

Kontras

- SEO-centric model forces somewhat consistent tweaks and changes to writing structure - Difficult to earn respectable money during slower times in a specific sports' news cycle
